With this talk we officially launch our ERC Starting Grant project here at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, LMU Munich. We introduce ourselves with our individual backgrounds and interests, present our starting hypothesis and our terrain of inquiry, give an overview of the research activities carried out in the first six months of the project, and lay out the sub-projects and events under way.

We also give an outline of the two methodological approaches we are developing – co-itinerant ethnography and an archeology of the contemporary – and propose potential areas of collaboration with staff and students in Munich.
